Last weekend's sixth round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship saw popular privateer racer Dave Pinkney launch a new sponsorship deal with leading men's magazine Nuts.
The magazine are using Pinkney's garishly liveried Honda Integra to promote their new Formula Nuts promotion, whereby amateur racers test their skills in karts in the hope of winning a drive in the Renault Clio Cup with current champions Team Boulevard Racing.
While a ninth place in race three at Donington was the best Pinkney could muster, the likeable veteran gained more valuable points in the fiercely competitive Independents championship and was clearly delighted with his new promotional partner.
"We are all very excited about Formula Nuts," said Pinkney, who will be on hand to see the competition winner take their star prize of a drive in the BTCC supporting Renault Clio Cup at Silverstone in October. "It's great to get the chance to represent the Nuts brand and knowing how hard it is to break into the world of motorsport, this competition provides an amazing opportunity to go racing."
Hans Seeberg, Deputy Editor of Nuts Magazine added: "We're delighted to be involved in Formula Nuts and the BTCC - and we hope the power of the mighty Nuts logo will help David Pinkney kick the behinds of the rest of the grid."
The Formula Nuts competition is a search for the next tin-top star. The competition will start with karting qualifiers throughout the UK in September, where entrants, who do not need any previous racing experience, will battle it out. Those who make it through to the Karting Final will then compete for one of ten places in the Grand Final.
At this point, it moves up a gear from karts to cars. The overall winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and experts in the world of motorsport. Each entrant will be assisted with coaching and assessment from the Formula Nuts BTCC drivers at every level of the competition.
Racing hopefuls will enter the competition through the FormulaNuts.com website.
